What's Peek A Book?
Getting oneself into a reading habit is a herculean task. But if we can bring the routine, the amount of intellectual knowledge and wisdom one gains through books is tremendous and it's extraordinary because we all believe that readers are leaders. Some of the Business stalwarts like Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc are good readers in the western world. So, we wanted to inculcate this habit at an early point in life. Also, it's a good practice to make them away from gadgets thereby allowing them to spend quality thoughts with the right intent. Hence, It's an initiative started by Story Carpet to help the students get into the practice of reading and reviewing books thereby enhancing their Communication, Creativity, and Confidence. The initiative is entirely run by the students. The session starts with an Introducer followed by the Host and then by the Book Reviewers, Evaluators, Storytellers, Quiz Master, and so on. Making the audience remain glued to the session is the responsibility of the host and the book reviewers, and they have been doing wonderfully well by maintaining a theme for every meeting. I can't believe they have been conducting this for more than a year without any adult interference in the session. Creating a poster for each theme, freezing the Agenda for the upcoming session, and executing it like a leader has all been done by the students and it has given them enough confidence to face any challenges in real life as well.

When: Every Alternate Sundays from 10 to 11 AM, IST
Where: Zoom (Online Mode)

Shreya's Transformation

“Before attending Peek-A-Book, Shreya, a fifth standard student, was very shy. She had no particular interest in reading; she did not mind it, but it was not her favourite thing to do. She read only when it was required for school, but she found the school books very boring. After attending Peek-A-Book, Shreya’s vocabulary improved greatly, and her interest in reading grew. She had more enthusiasm when completing school assignments that had to do with reading. She also gained more confidence and became more comfortable speaking to others. Now, she eagerly looks forward to the next Peek-A-Book session and enjoys reading one book every week. ”
